League of Legends: How To Play Your Favorite Champion

Last week we did a show & tell on our Build pages. Today we have a sneak peak on the Gameplay pages,  where we compile tips. Notice they are heavy on the images & video, light on the text.

Of course, Mr. Robot’s anti-troll software is suggesting that I make a disclaimer that says this page isn’t final and we don’t have all of the Fiddlesticks tips in that we want. Moving on…

We’ve spent a lot of time designing the experience that we want for ourselves, as average players, when trying to learn new champions and increase our ELO. Here’s what we’ve come up with:

  • Pictures, pictures, pictures! We do this for 2 reasons. First, some tips are better explained with paired with a picture, for example, sneaky places to gank with Fiddlesticks’ ult. The second is so you can easily spot the tips most important to you when browsing the page – pictures let you do that much faster than scanning titles.
  • Ability icons: you’ll see that when we have little text tips, we put the ability icon(s) next to them, allowing for easy scanning of the page.
  • Short videos! We’ll be adding short clips for specific uses of abilities. For example, how to escape a gank with Graves’ smoke screen. We will also try to show how NOT to use certain abilities, which will surely include some of my fail-ults with Janna that screwed up my teammates’ damage combos in team fights.
  • How to play against your opponent! It’s not shown on this page, but we’ll be adding tips on how to play against the opponent you selected, highlighting the things you must know, as well as how to counter them, and a few of the sneaky tricks they might have up their sleeves to counter you.

Pretty soon I’ll be able to show off the analysis tab, which graphs your damage against your opponent. /mindblown!

Leave a comment, tell us what you think! We’ll pick the best one or two commenters to check out the beta coming soon (hopefully by Aug 15).
